How to Dispose of Garbage Properly in NYC
A step-by-step visual guide to NYC trash disposal — what goes where, what not to do, and how to handle e-waste, hazardous items, bulky furniture, textiles and food scraps — paired with a Resource Guide of trusted programs I built in Google Sheets by researching each site myself instead of trusting the AI overview.

Community & Civic Research
Working with Jay, Victoria and Carlisha on community research — including a Thrash film analysis where I named the actual people generic emergency plans leave behind, and proposed specialized support instead.

I'm Jayson Gittens, a student at Canarsie High School and a three-summer Operator with Brooklyn Level Up. I work across environmental data, community research and media — turning fieldwork into guides, videos and resources people can actually use.
Full profileWhat I actually do
Environmental Fieldwork
I tested backyard soil for lead, mapped desolate lots, and used NASA ARSET tools to monitor conditions from above.
Soil testing, lot mapping, remote sensing
Resource Building
I build curated lists of trusted community programs so people aren't scrambling to find help in the moment they need it.
Guides, databases, Google Sheets deep dives
Story & Media
I co-produced a rain-activated stenciling video guide and designed a disposal guide people can scan off a sticker.
Video guides, decks, QR signage
